This year I’ve been focusing on a journey of gratitude and wellness. Now I’m not saying I’ve been completely successful, but I do see some things that tend to help me through the harder times.
The key, for me, to stay intent on this journey is keeping my thoughts in check.
Because whoever said it was right, “what you think about you bring about.”
Positive self talk is not always easy, in fact, I think it’s right down hard!!! It’s so much easier to negatively say to the image in the mirror harsh words.
You’re fat, you’re not pretty enough, you’re not good enough.
And I’ll admit, I’m pretty harsh with myself and I have to be intentional to keep my thought life focused on Him rather than the world around me. Actually, sometimes I have to physically look up.

One of the biggest “catch phrases” that has made a difference in my life I owe to Lysa TerKeurst and her book Made to Crave. Tucked in this book was a jewel of scripture that I had glossed over many times in my own personal reading.
You have been traveling around this mountain country long enough. Turn northward. Deuteronomy 2:3
And there it is, my catch phrase. My funk fighter. My reminder to do a 180 degree turn when I’m going the wrong way and to follow Him.
Turn North.
Again, I confess it’s not always easy. It’s not a sure fire way, but when I feel myself heading down a negative path I can lift my head up and remind myself to turn north. Most of the time, that snaps me out of whatever negative self talk I have going on in my head.
And I don’t know about you, but the thought life is half of the battle.
Do you have a catch phrase that you use? What can be your go to statement, verse, or saying to pick yourself up by your bootstraps when you’re down? I’d love to build my own arsenal with more weaponry against the enemy!!!
